Evaluations

As part of our piloting activities we have carried out a number of evaluations to gauge the effectiveness of our work, which will help us both to refine our materials, and provide evidence of the need for this initiative.

Much Marcle Evaluation

Feedback received from our pilot programme run at Much Marcle Primary School in Herefordshire (2005-2006) was based on two questionnaires, one for the children and one for the teacher, on the relevance of activities and the level of satisfaction achieved at the workshops

The activities proposed to the children were suitable for their age
The activities were suitable for achieving the aims we are looking for
The workshops were the right length of time
The interest triggered by the activities, the participation and the atmosphere in the workshops were all rated on a scale from 1 to 4 and scored 3
The teacher used relaxation in class thereafter
The workshops were beneficial for the children

The teacher remarked that the sessions had:

“Developed children’s confidence and ability to work as group”

“Made children more aware of their own and others’ needs and feelings.
Supported and developed self-esteem.”

“Taken into account different learning styles: Auditory, Visual and Kinetic.”

“Had a very positive effect on teacher-children relationships and vice-versa.”
