| Programme Content The Girasol UK education programme consists of two modules which can be delivered separately or together. Module one: Creative Relaxation Creative Relaxation is a training for both mind and body, which helps develop and enhance health and well being. Physical and mental relaxation helps to establish a positive attitude to learning, healing and emotional management, by avoiding stress. The Girasol methodology is based on the work and books written by the eminent Spanish psychiatrist Dr. Eugenio Herrero Lozano, who studied the mind/body relationship for over 30 years. The technique includes both training in physical relaxation and creative approaches to relaxation using the imagination. It is possible to learn to relax in any situation in daily life, and to use this state of relaxation to develop that inner creative potential which will benefit both the relationship with ourselves and with others. This training is suitable for teachers, parents and children. The workshops enable children to develop and draw out positive emotions, attitudes and behaviors, in response to different life situations. This increases their ability to exercise self confidence, responsibility and self determination and to develop positive self values as a basis for avoiding self damaging behaviour, as they grow and enter new environments. The Emotional Skills Programme has seven themes: Awareness of being unique. Awareness, expression, balance and control of emotions, Awareness of thoughts: relation between mind (thoughts) and body (behaviour). Perception of inner and outer senses. Self- esteem and personal qualities and skills. Exercises to help control our thoughts. Beliefs and values. Explore our system of beliefs and the role this plays in our lives. Various techniques such as storytelling, group exercises, painting and modelling, music and role play are used. The use of traditional tales from all over the world is one of the main tools in Girasol UK’s methodology.
