As part of our piloting activities we have carried out a number of activites in schools. Read the testimonials below to see what the teachers and others felt about our work.

Hazel Honey -Head Teacher- Roding Primary School (2008)

Roding primary school hosted the first ever UK pilot in Creative Relaxation with teachers. I and several members of my staff attended the 5 week training in November 2008. We learnt how to induce a state of relaxation at will, in any situation. Since learning the technique I have become more aware of my body and now I call on the technique throughout the day to help with the demands, both physical and emotional of being a head teacher. I would highly recommend this technique to any other teachers, and think that it has potential to be adopted as whole school approach to the well being of both teachers and pupils.


Rebeka Rider- Much Marcle Primary school (2006)

I worked with the Girasol team for 7 months between Nov 2005 to Jun 2006 with a class of 28 children between 7 to 9 years old. Girasol piloted their Creative Relaxation Technique and emotional skills materials. The children really enjoyed the classes with Pilar and Nelly especially the creative activities that the team had planned. The children also enjoyed the opportunity to develop their abilities to use relaxation techniques, although it began as quite a challenge for the children over time they were able to make the most of the opportunity given to them and they greatly enjoyed the relaxation times. Over the period of the six months that the Girasol team worked with my class I noticed a change in the children; the children were calmer, working more successfully in groups, listening to each other and more focused. I continue to use the relaxation techniques that Nelly and Pilar taught me and would recommend the technique to other teachers.


Diane Martinho – Oxford Gardens Primary School (2006)

The Girasol team worked with both our Y3 classes last year (2006). Both classes had 28 children, aged 8. The children in my class were quite boisterous and I found their behaviour challenging at times. The Girasol team taught my children how to relax and this was a process I continued with my class every afternoon. I noticed my class become a lot calmer in the afternoons and they were a lot more manageable. Through working with the Girasol team my class learnt to be calm, how to trust each other and how to express their thoughts. I still use these calming relaxation exercises now with my new class. I would recommend this to all teachers who want a calm, happy classroom environment.

Since completing the creative relaxation course in June I use it on a daily basis. It is easy to learn. I lead a particularly busy life but find that using the creative relaxation helps me gain time. Not only can I now achieve proper relaxation in fifteen minutes rather than in an hour and a half, but the quality of relaxation is significantly better. I have found that using creative relaxation on a regular basis has stimulated my imagination which, in turn, helps me make better use of my life.
